What Is An Emergency?

Dogs & Cats

  • Hit by car, even if your pet appears normal.
  • Uncontrollable bleeding.
  • Ingestion of anti freeze, rat poison, pesticides, etc.
  • Sudden enlarged or bloated abdomen.
  • Sudden collapse.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Non-responsive.
  • Sudden, frequent vomiting.
  • Retching (gagging, inability to vomit).
  • Ingestion of human and/or non-prescribed medication.
  • Over-heated.
  • Sudden loss of appetite.
  • Straining to urinate without producing any urine.
  • Cold to the touch.
  • Prolonged and/or multiple seizures.
  • If dog or cat is in labor weakly straining for more than 3 hours or hard straining for 30 minutes without delivering a puppy or a kitten.
  • Inability to use back legs.

Cats Only

  • Crying out in litter box without producing any urine.
